Report
With both teams starting at a fast pace there were plenty of meaty tackles going in with the prize at the end of the game a semi-final place and then the winners taking there place in the final at MOLINEUX the premier home of THE WOLVES so plenty at stake.
The game was going from end to end and must have been nice to watch for the neutral supporter but not the management as either side could break the deadlock.
This finally came for the away side as we turned off for a split second by not clearing in defence after James Costelloe had pulled off a good save, but the away centre forward swept the ball into the net without any challenge.
SECOND HALF.
After the half time team talk we asked the boys how much did they want to win this tie? the response we got was what we expected,as they came out of the traps flying and that yard quicker, unfortunately we had some off sides and a goal disallowed, which I found a tad strange!!!We kept the pressure on and again played some flowing football which Telford could not contain, but as the game went on we thought it was going to be one of those games where we were not going to get what we deserved.
Changes were made within the second half with Taylor Blyth,Ryan Baldwin,Brandon Carter and Ephraim Pepe all coming on and all had a part on what was going to happen. With 10 minutes to go and 1-0 down, with chances going begging was it going to be a bridge too far we thought!! but then a great ball from Sam Bethall sent Lewis Ludford racing throw the middle to draw the keeper and lob the ball into the far corner with a superb finish,WAS THE COME BACK ON?Chances again came and went on both sides but no goals, this was extra time now!
The game was still being played at a frantic pace which was a great credit to both teams.Chances at both ends still being created with the away keeper pulling off some great saves and Telford hitting the bar from a full 30yrds out it looked as if we were heading for penalties and i was thinking who can we choose to take them?
WITH ONLY SECONDS TO GO we were awarded a free kick on the edge of the box for a clumsy challenge on Ephraim Pepe, Sam Bethall picked up the ball, placing it perfectly where he wanted it,the referee turned to Sam and said THIS IS THE LAST KICK OF THE GAME!!!!putting pressure on him even more, but the free kick that followed was worthy of any winning goal in a game as he bent it round the wall with the keeper only being able to get a hand to it.As the ball hit the back of the net the boys, parents and management went berserk!!! wants it had all died down the kick off was taken and the referee blew the final whistle and we were in the semi's the DREAM IS STILL ALIVE.
"After an amazingly entertaining game it proves if you have the will and the desire you can reach your goal"!!!!!
