ISLE OF WIGHT TOUR REPORT

It is gives me great pleasure to write the following report on Coventry Schools U14's highly successful visit to the ESFA Isle of Wight Festival of Football in April 2010.

The boys competed magnificently in all 4 games, managing a 100% record of wins, something that we have not managed to do before as far as I am aware.
Perhaps more importantly, they were great amabassadors for Coventry SFA and their schools. Due to their exemplary behaviour and their good attitude in games, Coventry were awarded 5th place in the Bert Worrall Fair Play Awards, which was accepted with pride.
The whole squad took part in all the activities on site with great enthusiasm and seemed to enjoy all aspects of the trip.

Many thanks must go to Sean Delahunty and his team, along with PGL staff and ESFA officials who organised everything to run smoothly. Also the referees from around the country who gave their time up and volunteered to officiate at this Festival at their own expense.
Thankyou also to Mark Eales (Physio) for not only tending the boys injuries but also keeping them entertained. Not forgetting "Gunner" the CoachLeasing driver, who drove us everywhere we wanted to go, giving the boys the chance to taste different parts of the Island in their lesiure time, as well as to our games.

I hope the boys will have taken many fond memories of this trip home with them and they should also be very proud of their achievement during the tour.

I am sure that the players respective schools and indeed, their parents, will be equally proud to read such a glowing report about their sons/pupils too.

Would moving kids' football to a summer game help improve the development of young footballers?
Yes - better pitches mean a better chance to develop technique/skills
No - wouldn't make any real difference to development
Maybe - but I'd be worried about more injuries on firm pitches
